I first discovered my love of pottery during my second semester at Wells College in 2011. The first time I sat behind the wheel, I threw a small bowl and was completely hooked. Over the next 3 years, I'd spend almost every evening in the ceramic studio throwing clay to my heart's content. In 2014, I graduated Wells College with a degree in Psychology and double minors in Art and Sociology.
The summer after graduation, I decided to become the sole proprietor of Rebecca Wind Pottery so that I could sell the pottery I made at a local craft show. To my surprise, the profits I made at the craft show were enough to purchase my beloved potter's wheel and a used kiln on craigslist. Thanks to my generous and supportive parents giving me studio space in their home, I was able to get my business off the ground, slowly taking over parts of their home as my business grew! By 2020, it was clear that I was outgrowing my home studio and it was time for me to take a leap into my next chapter in life: moving in with my significant other and our two black cats. In February, I moved my business into a large studio space at MADE ON STATE in Rochester, New York, opening many more opportunities for production and teaching!
I have been a member since 2016 and am now President of the Independent Potter's Association (IPA) of Central New York. We are a group of artist/ potters who support, educate, mentor, and promote ceramic excellence in our community.
